Meter Services

ELM offers a full range of services for meters to ensure superior customer service and maintain the integrity and functionality of the meter in a safe and expedient manner. These offerings are completed safely by following all Federal, State, Local, and Customer requirements and include:

Gas Meter Build and Change Out: Gas meters are replaced utilizing the “hot change” method. With this technique, a hot change bag is placed over the test tee fitting to temporarily re-direct the gas without interrupting the customer’s service. This means that under normal circumstances, the gas is not turned off during the meter exchange and the customer maintains gas service throughout the process.

Gas Meter Shut Off and Relight: ELM’s OQ certified technicians will safely perform gas meter shut offs or relights as requested by the utility client.

Meter Reading: OQ qualified Technicians complete physical or electronic meter readings. This can be an individual offering or partnered with other utility related services. Meter dials are inspected to ensure proper functionality and any abnormal operating conditions with the meter are identified and reported back to the utility client.

Meter Painting: Corrosion on meters is remediated by doing a full or partial repaint as determined by customer specifications.

ELM utilizes SiteRight™ technology to provide the most advanced features to enhance these services including:

  • Creating work area assignments by utilizing embedded GIS mapping data.
  • Creating a customized data dictionary specific to customer requirements.
  • Activating the Follow Me feature to plot digital breadcrumbs and track work completed.
  • Recording critical data on work completed and identified abnormal operating conditions,
  • including pictures and videos as needed.
  • Transmitting data collected back to the web portal in real-time for alert notification and reporting purposes.
  • Documenting and tracking multiple audit types.
  • Recording data while offline.

All technicians complete a rigorous Training and OQ certification process that ensures the job is done right. Safety and technical training is continuous and based on refined best practices, with additional training specific to geographic, customer, or job requirements. AOCs (Abnormal Operating Conditions) are also identified and reported to the utility client.
